Police in Oyam District have arrested eight suspects in connection with a mob attack that led to the death of two police officers attached to Ngai Police Station.
According to police, five suspects were apprehended on Tuesday and three more suspects were arrested on Wednesday in Lira City by the team of police flying squad at North Kyoga.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, says that a case of murder, aggravated robbery of a police gun and malicious damage to Ngai Police Station was registered against the suspects at Oyam Central Police Station.
Reports indicate that on May 18, two police officers from Ngai Police Station in Oyam District who had gone to arrest a suspected motorcycle thief shot dead Ojok Nelson Omoding, a resident of Tecik Village.
In retaliation, an angry mob descended on the officers and beat two of them to death.
