A delegation from the European Mission in Uganda (EU) are in Gulu City to engage with the various stakeholders in Acholi sub region to discuss and find possible solutions to problems affecting the former war ravaged sub region.
The delegation led by Ambassador Jan Sadek, the Head of the EU European Mission in Uganda on Tuesday met and held discussions with the district, city, religious and cultural leaders.
Among issues discussed with the leaders include the high poverty and youth unemployment, low levels of education and the urban refugee problems.
They also discussed the possibility of partnership to develop cultural and tourism sites in the region among others.

The delegation is also in northern Uganda to monitor and assessed the progress and the impact of the various EU funded projects.
The European Union (EU) has a strong presence in northern Uganda, particularly in areas of development cooperation and infrastructure projects.
The EU has committed significant funding to support civil society organizations, rural development, and climate-smart agriculture in northern Uganda.
The EU is involved in major infrastructure projects like the rehabilitation of the Tororo-Gulu railway line and the development of the Gulu Logistics Hub.
Alfred Okwonga, the Mayor Gulu City, said the coming of the EU Mission in Uganda is timely, especially, now that the region is struggling to deal with a number of problems including poverty, unemployment and urban refugee influx.
