The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataha Museveni, has called on teachers across Uganda to return to schools and resume their duties, emphasizing the importance of education for learners and national development.
Her message was delivered on her behalf by State Minister for Higher Education, Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo, during the 8th graduation ceremony of Fort Portal College of Health Sciences in Fort Portal City on Friday.
In her statement, Janet Museveni acknowledged the concerns raised by educators but stressed that dialogue remains the best way to resolve disputes.
The call comes three weeks after teachers under the Uganda National Teachers Union (UNATU) began a nationwide strike over salary disparities and poor working conditions.
The industrial action has disrupted the start of the third term in many schools, raising concerns about how candidates will prepare for their final examinations.
