Five Arrested in Nwoya Over Alleged Rape, Robbery

The Police in Nwoya District have arrested five people for alleged rape, robbery and causing grievous harm.

Tumwebaze Laston, aged 23, Kimbowa Stephen, aged 23, Lutalo Gerald aged 30, Nasuru Mustafa aged 24 and Lubowa Ronald aged 23.

It is alleged that the suspects waylaid and indecently assaulted a three-month pregnant mother who had gone to demand her unpaid wages from the farm.

The incident occurred in Gony Cogo village, Lutuk parish, Koch Lii Sub County in Nwoya District.

The Aswa West Regional Police Spokesperson, David Ongom Mudong, confirmed the incident, adding that the suspects also inserted a stick into her private parts.

Mudong also alleges that on the same fateful day, the suspects also assaulted and robbed the area LC II of her money, worth 600,000 Shillings and a mobile phone, as she tried to restrain the suspects from assaulting the pregnant woman.

The victim has since been admitted at Anaka General Hospital in Nwoya.
