Total Energies has flagged off yet another 10 scholars from Nwoya District under the Total O’level Scholarship Program that is given to the best performing girls in the Primary Leaving Examinations in selected districts.

During the event at Anaka Town council on Friday, Nyakato Mary Josephine, the Community Liasons Supervisor explained that the scholarship program that started in 2013 has seen 243 students from both Buliisa and Nwoya districts study through ordinary secondary level without having to go through the hardships of looking for school fees and requirements that are hard to get.

The Nwoya District Education Officer incharge of the special needs Education, Agnes Acayo appealed to Total Energies to look into supporting the children living with disabilities too, adding that the criteria for selecting them could be different from that used in selecting the normal children.

Total Energies is currently providing other education programs like the graduate trainee program internship programs, A level Scholarship Program for the girl children, Nursing and midwifery, youth capacity building, and the Tilenga program that trains young people in the production of oil in Buliisa District.

For this year’s Total O Level scholarship program, 20 girls were picked from Buliisa and Nwoya districts, 10 from each district, to go study in Ocer Jesuit College, Gulu or St. Andrea Kaahwa’s College, Hoima.
