Police in Arua district have arrested two suspects for attempting to bribe the Officer-in-Charge of the Criminal Investigation Division (OC CID) at the Arua District Central Police Station in Odumi, in an effort to evade investigation into a murder case.

The two suspects are Nyakuta Brian (22) and Ajikia Annet (28), the wife of the prime murder suspect, Onzima Innocent.

Nyakuta and Ajikia were arrested on April 14, 2024 after they reportedly handed 2 million shillings to a police officer handling the murder case to kill the case.

The murder suspect, Onzima Innocent, a clan leader, was arrested by police on April 12, 2024, after he allegedly commanded clan members to kill his brother, Arijole Alido on Dec, 17, 2023, accusing him of using cultic means to get rich.

The clan members went ahead to burn down the deceased’s house before escaping to hide in the Democratic Republic of Congo until recently, when they returned after realizing that the police officer who was handling the matter, was transferred.

However, the prime murder suspect, Onzima, was arrested and charged with murder, malicious damage, and arson.

Meanwhile, the bribery suspects were charged with bribing a police officer on duty.

Josephine Angucia, the West Nile region police spokesperson confirmed the report saying the bribe money will be used as exhibit in court.
