UPC Party Wins Dokolo By-Election

The late Cecilia Atim Ogwal was 77 years old.

Sarah Aguti of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party is the new Dokolo Women Member of Parliament (MP) elect.

Aguti won the by-election with 23,044 votes beating six other candidates including Janet Rose Adongo Elau of NRM who came second with 14,001 votes.

Dr Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party flag bearer who is also the daughter of the late Cecilia Ogwal came 3rd with 8,168 votes

Others are Harriet Ageno of the National Unity Platform (727), Dr. Esther Akullo Obot Otada (790) and Rebecca Arao (439)-both independents.

The Dokolo Woman Member of Parliament seat fell vacant following the death of the area legislator, Hon. Cecilia Atim Ogwal on 18th January, 2024 in India.
