The Uganda Revenue Authority-URA has reduced on taxes levied on new motorcycles imported to the country.
In the promotion which is ending on June 30th, 2026, the tax body has reduce the taxes on new motorcycles from UGX 1.4 million to UGX 650, 000.
Meanwhile the tax-man has maintained the registration fee for number plate at UGX 720, 000 shillings.
Abbey Mwerere, the URA regional Manager for Northern Uganda confirmed the development to our reporter saying the promotion do not focus on boosting revenue but to register much new motorcycles.
According to Mwerere, new motorcycle owners are required to present receipt of acquisition of the motorcycle, copy of the National Identification cards, or passports Tax Identification Number (TIN) as well as a registered clearing agent.
