Presidential candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged residents of the West Nile sub-region to focus on individual wealth creation rather than depending solely on government infrastructure development.

While launching his campaign in the region at Bar Omach Primary School Playground in Pakwach District on Tuesday, October 7, Museveni emphasized that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) message centers on promoting household income, while the government takes responsibility for major infrastructure projects.

Museveni announced plans to allocate an additional 15 million shillings every financial year under the Parish Development Model (PDM) to support local leaders, raising the revolving funds to 115 million shillings.

He also pledged to create special funds for religious leaders, cultural institutions, and university graduates to boost wealth creation.

His remarks followed several appeals from local leaders in Pakwach District, who asked the government to address key development concerns.

These include reforming the Fisheries Protection Unit’s operations, returning the Palango land to the Jonam community, elevating Pakwach Health Centre IV to hospital status, and upgrading Pakwach Town Council to a municipality.
