The Uganda National Examinations Board, UNEB, has issued a strong warning to heads of examination centres and the general public against fraudsters posing as members of the Board’s Security Committee.
In a press statement dated 23rd December 2025 and posted on UNEB’s official X page, formerly Twitter, the Board says it has received reports of impostors approaching headteachers and school directors demanding money.
The fraudsters allegedly promise to help improve candidates’ examination grades or remove schools from lists of centres suspected to be involved in examination malpractice.
UNEB has clarified that these individuals are not members of the Board and has cautioned all heads of examination centres at all levels to avoid engaging with them and emphasizes that it does not condone any form of examination malpractice or corruption.
The examinations body is calling upon the public and education stakeholders to report any such cases to the police
UNEB has further assured the public that anyone who provides credible information regarding these fraudulent activities will be protected under the Board’s whistleblower policy.
