The Ministry of Education and Sports Janet Kataha Museveni

The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has pushed forward the dates in which candidates who sat for their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams last year and did not meet the minimum grade requirements to re-sit the exams.

A total of 14,879 candidates who sat their UCE examinations last year did not meet the minimum grade requirements, and have been advised to re-sit the examination given the fact that 2023 marked the final year of implementing the old curriculum.

Initially, UNEB had scheduled the one-off examination for June and July 2024.

But UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo says that the exams will now be conducted concurrently with the schedule for candidates studying under the new curriculum.

He adds that the registration process for those under the old curriculum will also be conducted concurrently with the regular registration for this year.

Early this month, Prof. Celestino Obua, the UNEB Chairperson said that this group will be provided a one-time opportunity to resit the exams under the old curriculum

Professor Obua added that the same treatment will be given to candidates who did not register for the 2023 examination, those who registered but did not attend.

Furthermore, adult learners studying independently will also be afforded a one-time chance for examination.
