95% of the pupils and students registered in Amuru district government aided schools are yet to report to the school for the third term academic term as of Wednesday 16th, September.

According to a report from the district education department, out of the over 52,000 registered pupils and students, only 2,600 learners have reported to school as of Wednesday.

Speaking to Mega FM, Geoffrey Osborn Oceng, the Amuru Resident District Commissioner, expressed disappointment after finding the schools nearly empty, with only a few teachers present during the school inspection exercise.

Oceng blamed parents for failing to send children to schools and criticizes the head teachers for their failure to take action against teachers that are absences at schools within official communication.

In the 2025 PLE, only 90 pupils in Amuru District attained Division One out of more than 3,000 candidates who sat the examinations.
