Police in Alebtong district are holding a39 year secondary school teacher for allegedly defiling a16 year old student.
The suspect, identified as Denish Erem, a teacher at Akura Secondary School, was arrested on Sunday after the victim opened up to her mother.
The victim is a senior two student at Akura Secondary School in Alebtong district.
Preliminary findings indicate that on March, 24th, 2025, the suspect had sexual intercourse with the victim without protection and impregnated her.
On April, 18, 2025 during a routine medical check-up, the girl was discovered pregnant and she was subsequently suspended from school.
She later opened up to her mother who immediately reported the matter to police leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson, says a case of aggravated defilement has been preferred against the suspect.
