At least 10 suspected hard-core motorcycle thugs have been arrested in an intelligent led operation in Nwoya district. The suspects, all male adults, were arrested on February 17, 2025 from Okwoto village in Lii sub-county.
Four stolen motorcycles and number plates of motorcycles robbed by the suspects were recovered during the operation. Police also recovered from the suspects, forged number plates, machine for making counterfeit number plates and computer for printing fake logbooks.
Reagan Magombe, the district Police commander, told Mega FM that the suspects have been operating mostly in the districts of Oyam, Gulu, Lira and Nwoya.
According to statistics from police at Nwoya Central Police Station, at least 13 motorcycles were stolen from Nwoya district alone in 2024 and only three have been recovered.
