Aruu Candidate Petitions EC Over Alleged Bias

Independent parliamentary candidate, Samuel Odonga-Otto, has petitioned the Electoral Commission complaining against some of its officials.

He says five sub-county supervisors in Aruu County are biased and trying to influence the upcoming parliamentary elections.

According to the petition, the supervisors met at Puranga Town Council sometime between 10th and 18th November at a meeting that was reportedly organized by the incumbent Aruu county MP, Christopher Komakech, also a candidate for the Aruu County parliamentary seat.

Odonga-Otto claims that each supervisor demanded and received shillings 3 million to manipulate the results and was promised more money later.

He also questions whether the supervisors are even qualified for the roles they hold, pointing out that some may not meet the minimum academic requirements.

Odonga-Otto is asking the IEC to either dismiss or transfer the five supervisors outside Aruu County and Pader District.

He also wants their qualifications re-evaluated.

In addition, he requests that the Pader Returning Officer take full charge of the election process to prevent any partiality.

David Omara, Returning Officer for Lunyiri Sub-County, says he only saw the allegations on social media and has never been involved in any of the said meetings.
