Atiak Health Centre IV Suspends Surgeries Over Power Outage

Atiak Health Centre IV in Atiak Town Council, Amuru District has been forced to suspend surgeries due to a power outage that has lasted a week.

The power outage follows a fault on a transformer supplying power to the facility whose solar system is too weak to support surgeries.

Dr. Angelo Oceng, the In charge Atiak Health Centre IV, said the facility is at the moment referring patients to St Mary’s hospital Lacor for surgeries.

Kenneth Okot, the Local Council Three Chairperson, Atiak Town Council said the outage has not only affected the health centre but also businesses causing traders enormous losses.

He said his office has contacted Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited for that the transformer to be replaced.

Jonan Kizza, the Spokesperson Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited told Mega Fm that a new transformer was enroute to Atiak adding that power will be restored by the end of this week.
