The Government through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) in partnership with the Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) has donated three tractors to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party cadres in Agago District to boost commercial coffee farming in bid to fight poverty.
The tractors were delivered to the NRM Cadres under their different cooperatives including Agago County Cooperative Limited, Agago West cooperative Limited and Agago North Cooperative Limited by the Minister of State for Economic Monitoring, Office of the President Akello Beatrice Akori.
Minister Akori was accompanied by the State Minister of Works and Transport, Musa Ecweru.
The beneficiaries also underwent a one month Ideological Training conducted by Ministry of Information, Communications Technology and National Guidance.
The government identified Northern Uganda, traditionally known for growing cassava, cotton, sorghum, and millet, among others as a potential area that could help the country meet its target of producing 20 million bags of coffee annually by 2030.
