By Rebbecca Ekwany

Police in Amuru district have arrested a man identified as Okello Denis for allegedly burning the private parts of a man he allegedly caught having sexual intercourse with his wife in Amilobo village, Lamogi sub county in Amuru district.

Okello is facing charges of torture and causing aggravated injuries on Oyat Samuel Baker’s private parts, crimes he allegedly committed in the wee hours of Wednesday at the residence of Oyat.

According to reports, Okello (suspect) allegedly first tied Oyat using a rope before burning his private parts, causing severe injuries on his penis.

It’s not clear why and how Okello’s wife left her marital home and was sleeping at the home of Oyat.

Ogik Martine, the area LC1 chairperson, confirmed the incident, condemning the burning of Oyat’s the private parts as barbaric.

The latest incident comes less than a month following the arrest of a36 year old on allegations of stabbing to death a man he allegedly caught having sexual intercourse with his wife in Pakiri village, Lamogi sub-county Amuru District.

The suspect has been identified as Opoka Charles while the victim is Otim Thomas (38). The suspect and the wife were no longer living under the same roof.

Adultery, is no longer a criminal offence in Uganda and therefore, criminalising it, is an act of unprofessionalism and abuse of authority.
