Govt on Track to Produce Oil by 2025

Government is on track to ensure that the first drop of oil is produced by the end of 2025, according to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Ruth Nankabirwa.

Nankabirwa told Parliament on Wednesday that the government and its partners are working tirelessly to have first oil by the end of 2025.

While presenting a statement on the status of oil and gas projects in the country, Nankabirwa said the government has already drilled a total of 11 oil wells.

According to Nankabirwa, eight of the 11 oils are in the Tilenga while three are in the Kingfisher area.

She said the 11 wells have the capacity to produce up to 230,000 barrels of oil per.

She adds that in total, the production will require a total of 457 wells and 35 well pads.

A total of 3.5 billion barrels of commercial oil deposits have been discovered in the 111 successful wells drilled in the Albertine Graben.
