A 29-year-old man who went missing from Bwobo Cell in Bardege-Layibi Division, Gulu City on Monday has been found dead.
Charles Okello’s decomposing body was discovered inside his grass thatched hut on Thursday by the community.
The body was discovered following a foul smell emanating from his house forcing residents to break the door only to find him dead.
Gilbert Okwi, the Deputy Resident City Commissioner confirmed the report saying post mortem carried out at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital showed that Okello died after drinking too much alcohol.
This now brings to 10 the number of people to have died as a result of excessive alcohol consumption in Acholi Sub region in the last 10 months.
According to a report by the District Health Departments in Acholi, at least 16,000 people in Acholi sub region are battling with alcohol use disorder.
